Balmoral Castle the backdrop to the race

Stena Drilling 10Km full - places still available in Petrofac Challenge and Taqa Diamond Jubilee Mile - 19 March 2012

The Stena Drilling Tartan 10Km at Balmoral on Saturday 28th April has closed with a capacity field having signed up for the popular race.

But it's not too late to be part of the wonderful RunBalmoral weekend as places are still available in Sunday's Petrofac Challenge 15 mile run.

Top runners in the Challenge will be battling for the superb first prize of a trip to a race in Ethiopia which is being offered for the first man and woman to complete the course.

But for all competitors this exciting new event offers a stimulating test which takes participants on a journey through some of the royal estate's most stunning scenery.

The multi-terrain run starts and finishes on the road next to the Balmoral cricket pitch and the route follows the banks of the River Dee before climbing through the estate to Glen Gelder.

Wonderful views of Lochnagar can be seen to the east and a magnificent panorama of the Cairngorms to the west. It then meanders along open moor land before descending through a pine forest back to the River Dee.

If you don't feel up to running 15 miles why not have a go at the Taqa Diamond Jubilee Mile? There's still places available in this run which also takes place on Sunday 29th April.

Runners will be set off in small groups and everyone will be given a time for this accurate course.

Entries for the MPH primary schools 1.5km races on Saturday 28th April closed a few weeks ago and the last remaining places in the Kongsberg Maritime secondary schools 2.5Km race are expected to be taken up very soon.

The ConocoPhillips 5Km is also getting close to its limit.

So, if you haven't chosen which event you would like to do, please hurry before all the remaining slots are taken up.
