Balmoral Castle the backdrop to the race

Last Call for Stena Drilling Tartan 10k Entries - 23 February 2010

The Stena Drilling Tartan 10K at Balmoral Castle on 24th April is almost full with less than 100 of the 2,400 places still available. Places in the accompanying ConocoPhillips 5K are also being snapped up rapidly as the popularity of the Deeside meeting soars to unprecedented levels.

And entry numbers are well ahead of expectations in the Activeschools Aberdeenshire secondary schools 2.5K and the MPH primary schools 1.5K. In all, there are 1,100 more entries than at the same stage last year and organisers are confident that all four races will reach capacity well in advance of the advertised closing date.

Over 4,000 runners of all ages will take part on the day and an equal number of spectators will ensure that Balmoral is buzzing on the big day.Event manager Alastair Simpson said:"There's only a handful of places left in the 10K but if anyone isn't lucky enough to get in then they can still turn to the 5K.

"We have close to 500 entries for the 5K so far but we can take up to 800, so there's still time.

"However, I'd advise folk not to wait too long as we expect the reamining places to be taken up fairly quickly.

"Any postal entries for the 10K which are received after all places have been filled, will be returned.

"It's just remarkable that the races are attracting so many entries. The event just seems to get more and more popular every year."
