Runners taking part in the 10k race

Stena Drilling Tartan 10Km is Fully Subscribed - 28 February 2011

All 2,500 places in the Stena Drilling Tartan 10Km at Balmoral Castle on Saturday 23rd April have been snapped up 55 days ahead of event. This is the earliest that the race has reached its capacity and is further evidence of the continuing and growing popularity of the Balmoral meeting.

Places in the ConocoPhillips 5Km on the same day are also being taken up at an unprecedented rate and entries for this race are also expected to close early. Event Manager Alastair Simpson said:"This is great news as it shows that the Balmoral races are among the most popular events in the country.

"It's disappointing for those folk who haven't been able to get a place but at least this year some of them have the option of competing in our new event, the Petrofac Challenge."

The Challenge, which is being held for the first time this year, will be held over a mixed terrain half marathon course on Sunday 24th April.

Entries are now open and a field of between 250 and 500 is expected.

Simpson said:"The Challenge will be held over quite a testing course but competitors will get to see some wonderful scenery along the way. "It's an exciting new event and hopefully it will become a firm fixture on the Run balmoral programme for many years to come."

There are still places available in the children's race on the Saturday.
