Good Morning Participants, we hope that your training for the Apollo Duathlon Race has been going well and that you are looking forward to the event on Sunday 22nd April. We have 300 entrants taking part in this fantastic event, which will see you run and cycle around some of the most scenic areas of Balmoral Estate. Please find below and attached all the important and essential information you require to prepare including the rules and regulations and the route map.

In addition to the rules published above please note that you MUST always rack your bike by your race number which will be stuck on the rack frame. Any competitor not doing this will be disqualified.

Parking: Turn off the A93 onto the B976 at Crathie and follow the signs for the event car park

Key Timings: 08:00-09:00: Registration for all participants – collect number + chip 09:15: Final event safety briefing 09:30: Race starts

The Route:  will take runners out in front of the Castle, then on a tough little 6K with transition to bike on the event field before heading out around the scenic Ripe Hill loop with stunning views of Lochnagar, steady ascents and long descents! Then it’s transition time again before the final loop of the Wee Trail. A breakdown of the route profile is as follows: Best viewed on a desktop PC – no log in etc required.

It is essential that your bike is in excellent working order before the event. If you are in any doubt whatsoever to the condition of your own bike, please take it to your local bike shop for a full service in advance of the event. Bike hire is available in advance of the event from https://www.bikestationballater.co.uk/ Bike Extras: All participants are asked to carry the following:

  • Bike multi-tool
  • Pump
  •  2 x Inner Tubes suitable for your bike
