Aberdeenshire Schools Aim For Balmoral Trophies - 11 February 2013
Aberdeenshire Active Schools is offering the trophies for primary and secondary schools with the highest number of entrants in the popular races on the royal estate.
Primary school runners can take part in the MPH 1.5K race while secondary school pupils aged 15 and under can run in the Kongsberg Maritime 2.5K. Entries for these races can be made at www.runbalmoral.com
Active Schools Manager Brian Mitchell said: "The trophies will be awarded in three categories. The first is for primary schools with less than 100 pupils, the second is for primary schools with 100 pupils or more, and the third is for secondary schools of all sizes.
It’s not about winning; it’s about entering and participating. The schools with the biggest number of runners entered in each category will win the trophies, so I'd urge everyone to submit their entries as soon as possible.
We are delighted to be supporting Run Balmoral in this way and providing school children with an opportunity to be part of an exciting day in April.
Aberdeenshire Active Schools aims to provide children with the opportunity to participate in physical activity, both within the school community and beyond.
Plans are going ahead to develop running activities in Aberdeenshire Schools that will lead into Run Balmoral therefore giving children an opportunity to develop and then experience a fantastic occasion on the day.
